In December 2015, the Security Council passed the groundbreaking resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security recognizing the important and positive contribution of youth in efforts for the maintenance and promotion of peace and security. The resolution affirmed the important role youth can play in the prevention and resolution of conflicts and as a key aspect of the sustainability, inclusiveness and success of peacekeeping and peacebuilding efforts.
