As part of WFUNA’s Dag Hammarskjold Symposium Series, WFUNA is collaborating with the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing and the United Nations Association of China, to commemorate the death of Dag Hammarskjold (the former Secretary-General of the United Nations – 1953 – 1961), in Beijing, China on December 1st.
The Symposium will take a look at Hammarskjold’s philosophy on conflict prevention and will ask key government and UN officials, the academic community and civil society members - “Given the change in the nature of world conflict what would Dag Hammarskjöld think of the UN’s emerging norm - “The Responsibility to Protect”?
