On March 12, 2018, the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) convened the tenth in a series of Civil Society Dialogues with the President of the United Nations Security Council at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The dialogue featured Ms. Lise Gregoire-van Haaren, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United Nations, on behalf of the H.E. Karel J. G. van Oosterum, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the UN and President of the UN Security Council for the month of March. Mr. Bonian Golmohammadi, WFUNA’s Secretary-General, moderated the discussion that brought together over 40 UN-focused civil society representatives.

Ms. Gregoire-van Haaren highlighted the Netherland’s priorities for the month of March which include prevention and contributing to the UNSG’s efforts, better peacekeeping to protect civilians, and accountability, justice and rule of law. She also emphasized the importance of involving civil society in UN processes and partnership with non-governmental organizations. Ms. Gregoire-van Haaren then answered questions from CSO representatives on a wide range of topics including peacebuilding, sexual exploitation and abuse, implementation of UNSCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security in relationship to Syria, among other issues.
