On May 8-9, 2016, the international Challenges Forum held their 20th Anniversary Meeting in New York, as a prelude to the High Level Thematic Debate on Peace and Security convened by the President of the 70th session of the General Assembly. WFUNA’s Secretary General, Mr. Bonian Golmohammadi, and Peace and Disarmament Officer, Mr. Jordan Street, attended and participated in the anniversary event, United Nations Peace Operations 2020: The United Nations Reviews and Their Implications for Tomorrow’s Missions, together with five Youth representatives from WFUNA.
A busy two days of very interesting discussions and debates culminated with a reception hosted by the Foreign Ministry of Sweden, with remarks delivered by the President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Mogens Lykketoft,Deputy Secretary-General, H.E. Mr. Jan Eliasson, and the Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations, H.E. Ms. Samantha Power.
