2021 UN Security Council Exit Briefing

On February 17, 2021, the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) organized the third Exit Briefing for outgoing UN Security Council members.

On 17 February, 2021, the third UNSC Exit Briefing was held with all five countries leaving the Security Council after the 2019-2020 term. This briefing featured H.E. Mr. Phillippe Kridelka, Permanent Representative of Belgium; H.E. Mr. José Singer, Special Envoy of the Dominican Republic to the UN Security Council; H.E. Mr. Christoph Heusgen, Permanent Representative of Germany; H.E. Mr. Dian Triansyah Djani, Permanent Representative of Indonesia; and H.E. Mr. Xolisa Mabhongo, Deputy Permanent Representative of South Africa. WFUNA’s Secretary-General, Mr. Bonian Golmohammadi, and Peace and Security Officer Pablo Angulo moderated. Approximately 71 member state representatives and 76 civil society organizations attended this briefing from different parts of the world.

Following opening remarks, a series of Questions and Answer rounds from member states and civil society organizations allowed for an interactive session. 

The event was broadcast live on UN Web TV and also promoted on social media with the hashtag #UNSCExit to allow for a participation form a global audience and wider stakeholder engagement.
