SDG 17
Colligo, SDG 17 | 2019

Through their Mission Possible project, the team hoped to initiate an understanding of what the United Nations Global Goals are and connect people together between different year groups. More importantly, the aim of their project was to enrich the students of Tanglin Trust Senior School with the knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals to empower them to become a global citizen of the world. They hosted a hackathon, an awareness week and a sustainability symposium to promote the Sustainable Development Goals while reaching out to both junior and senior school students at Tanglin Trust School.

SDG 15
Tree For Me, SDG 15 | 2019

The Tree For Me team sought to contribute to SDG 15 by raising awareness of the rapid destruction and deforestation of rainforests. In order to do so, they hoped to plant as many trees around the school as possible in an attempt to draw attention to the trees, so that they may raise awareness of the large issues of deforestation. They chose to plant endangered heritage trees that were given for free by NParks.

SDG 10
Project Rainbow, SDG 10 | 2019

By reducing the stigma around mental disability and improve the well-being of mentally disabled children in Singapore, Project Rainbow targeted their project to addressing SDG 3 and SDG 10. Working closely with the Rainbow Centre, this team volunteered with eight young children with mental disabilities to aid them in their skills development. This group also started a meditation club in their school to create a space for students to focus on mental health and re-centre during busy and stressful school days.

Pink Project, SDG 5 | 2019

Focusing on alleviating period poverty as a means of addressing SDG 5 on Gender Equality, the Pink Project team worked with Procter & Gamble’s Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore to provide the women residing at local women’s shelter, Star Shelter, with a mix of daily and monthly necessities. The aim of Pink Project was to contribute to the issue of period poverty in the local community by taking direct action, through the distribution of sanitary products to women’s shelters in Singapore for free as the high prices for these said products are restricting many women and girls in achieving their full potential.

SDG 10
Helping Hand, SDG 10 | 2019

Helping Hand is a student-led initiative that aims to provide migrant workers with the support and facilities to pursue their hobbies. The team has been running badminton sessions on Sundays in the Smithson Sports Hall at Tanglin Trust School for a group of Filipino domestic workers. These students took over the project from their seniors who were in the previous Mission Possible cycle at Tanglin Trust School.

Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 7 | 2018

This team decided to address the use of energy in their school. They were concerned that the school spent nearly SDG 4000 per day on utilities. They also found a huge amount of energy wastage amongst students and members of staff by simply forgetting to turn off electrical appliances after use.

Positive Mental Well-Being, SDG 3 | 2018

This team wished to impact the positive mental well being of students in Tanglin Trust School. This issue was very important to them as they felt that mental health is not widely discussed and students often struggle to cope with the varying stress factors over their school years. They organized interesting and interactive lessons within their school community to tackle different stress factors students face by working closely with several stakeholders.

Helping Hand, SDG 10 | 2018
Helping Hand

This team wished to improve the wellbeing of foreign domestic workers by planning and conducting sports activities. They were concerned that foreign domestic workers had a lack of access to facilities that promoted a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Therefore, they wanted to integrate the foreign domestic workers with the Tanglin Community and share the Tanglin Trust School’s facilities with them.

Urban Farming, SDG 11 | 2018

This team wished to create a sustainable farm in their school to create awareness on the negative effects of traditional farming, which tend to result in water wastage and high levels of CO2 emissions. They also hoped that the food grown in their school farm would be part of the food sold in their canteens to promote sustainability and healthy eating.

Marine Life Awareness and Conservation, SDG 14 | 2018

This team felt that the threats of marine life are often overlooked and there was a need for more awareness and conservation. They were particularly concerned with marine life being threatened by plastic waste. Therefore, they were determined to make their cause about reducing the use of plastic and promoting alternatives in their school.
